The Horton ornament hanging is one of the most beloved Days of Our Lives traditions not just of the holidays, but of all time. Ever since Tom and Alice’s days the Hortons have celebrated the magical season by hanging handmade ornaments for each and every family member. Whether blood related, adopted or married into the family, everyone in the Horton clan gets an ornament.
This year, though, the folks at Days of Our Lives decided to have some fun with the tradition and have a few cast members design their own Horton ornament — as cookies! They then presented the six ornaments over on Instagram and asked the fans to vote on their favorite, with the winners announced the next day. You can check out the entries below, though Days of Our Lives didn’t let on to who took part in the challenge, let alone who baked what!
In the end, the top cookie came out ahead with just 48 more votes than the second place entry. And the winner turned out to be one of the honorary Hortons, Paul Telfer (Xander)! Galen Gering (Rafe) came in a close second, followed by Kennedy Garcia (Felicity), John-Paul Lavoisier (Philip), Cherie Jimenez (Gabi) and finally, Eric Martsolf (Brady).
“Aw shucks,” Telfer responded in the comments. “I never used to win things like this when I was a kid — thanks to everyone who took the time to vote!”
You can check out the actors modeling their cookies in the show’s Instagram post below.
Jimenez graciously congratulated Telfer for the win in the comments with a, “Bravo,” followed by a round of applause. But not everyone was happy with the results!
When Martsolf cracked in the comments that the contest was “#rigged,” Telfer had the perfect reply. And somehow we feel like he was just waiting for the chance to use it! “Don’t take it so hard,” the winner wrote. “Just the way the cookie crumbles.
And with that, Merry Christmas everyone and Happy Holidays to all!
