The happy couple announced their exciting news in a joint Instagram post, sharing a black-and-white photo of Frei with her hand on Floyd’s cheek — with a stunning pear-shaped diamond on a split band prominently displayed on her finger. “YES,” read the simple caption.
Floyd popped the question on Dec. 21 — ahead of Christmas! — in Frei’s hometown, Boston. According to People, the couple was visiting Boston Common when Floyd got down on bended knee to ask Frei to spend the rest of her life with him. After she said yes, they celebrated their status upgrade from dating to engaged at a party with their families.
“We are huge family people, so having both of our families together was important,” Floyd told the outlet. “Carly is from Boston, so the city has such a special place in her heart, and being there with all our loved ones I know meant so much to her.
The snow-covered Boston Commons added to the winter wonderland backdrop for the romantic moment. “It was a struggle to get her to walk through the park in 25-degree weather,” admitted the Y&R star, “but we made it happen.”
Floyd shared that his parents and sister had flown in from his hometown of Austin, Texas, to join Frei’s family at the engagement party. “Carly is the love of my life,” he confessed. “She means the world to me, and I really wanted to make this special for her.”
It certainly sounds like their engagement is one that Floyd and Frei will forever remember. “I’ll never forget the face she made after dropping to a knee and then surprising her with a massive party with our friends and families,” he said, calling it a “magical day.”
